The game in the afternoon against the Parthian was in a way similair. Three virtually identical commands of 5 Kn(X) and lots of LH(F). A micro arab command of 4LH. Okay. Doesn't sound similair so far! I deployed the same way again. Infantry in the centre with 2 flank commands of chariots. Command 4 in reserve! The Parthians deployed two commands in a central position with LH(F) to the rear in a second rank and lots more on the flanks. The arabs were even futher to the flank. They had a flank march.
Realising they had a flank march I decided to attack the LH on the flanks and try and delay the Kn(X) in the centre as I didn't want to fight them (now it sounds similair to last time!). My opponant threw a 6 for the flank march! Panic!!!!! No point trying feigned flights with my sentre command as I would just be retreating into the path of the on coming flank march.
My infantry were about 80cm from the flank so I decided to get stuck in with my fast blades and try and force a result one way or another before the flank march could influence things too much. The PIP dice for the flank march for the first eight moves was 6,6,6,6,4,4,5,3. Bit unlucky with the 3 or what?
I managed to kill a lot of light horse and a couple of knights. Even took a command off before the inevitable massacre. I lost 8 out of 10 Bw(O) on the move the other knight command made contact.

Observations
1. Bw(O) can only get at best 11-6 against Kn(X) making them immune to bow fire. I already knew this was the case but I'm not sure they should have 0% chance of a kill.
2. Cv(S) against LH(F) is very deadly in the Cv rounds if they win as the LH get the minus for being fast AND for fighting (S).
3. The game itself ran pretty smoothly with both players having a good understanding of the rules. With a combination of familiarity with the rules and Superior troops being easier to kill the game ended in under 2.5 hours. 18-7.

The one thing that shone through from the competition as a whole is that the palyers didn't think superior troops were worth the points cost anymore. If superior troops are going to remain like this then some troops will need to have their points changed. Have I ever mentioned that Cm(S) are overpriced at 11 points?
