Field of Glory Rules for the Northern Doubles League 2015


The competition is open for single players, but will allow novice teams to enter as a pair.  Permitted armies will vary through each round – see on.

The rules to be used are Field of Glory V2.00 with the Umpires Clarifications (   The organisers reserve the right to issue sanctioned amendments at their own discretion.

The valid armies OB lists are to be from the published Field of Glory army lists books as defined by the list of rounds below.

As with other competition of this nature, players are required to supply their own terrain in accordance with their chosen army

Admission to the Northern Doubles League is at the sole discretion of the organisers and their decision on all matters is final. An application to enter the Northern Double League denotes acceptance of these rules.

Also by playing in the Northern Doubles League you give the organisers the right to keep information about you, (this will not be passed on to anybody outside the N.D.L), except for the end of the year results which are passed on to the BHGS for adding to the ranking points.

Each player must use one of each of the 3 classes of armies over the 5 rounds.

Also each player must play in 3 round of the N.D.L to qualify for BHGS ranking points.

Games will be played to 3 ½ hours long depending on the venue at the time of the round

Games not finished by the allotted time will be ended by the use of the WHISTLE STOP RULES see below.

"Whistle Stop": "Time" is called at a semi-random time, within 5 to 10 minutes either side of the published finish time. When "Time" is called, the game stops IMMEDIATELY and the result at that point is calculated, except that if in any bound combat has started (ONLY shooting or hand-to-hand) that bounds combats are all resolved


1. The Players Name

2. Which army class it is, which book it is from, it's list number (if it has one) and its date and variant used.

3. Battle group details - Number of elements and attributes of each element.

4. Army Order of Battle

All army list and entry fees must be submitted 15 days before each round of the competition date and may be sent by post or by e-mail, Submission of inaccurate, incomplete or poorly laid out and late lists will be penalised. Lists must be in Microsoft Excel or Microsoft word documents only but not Word 2007 or Excel 2007 unless saved in 2003 format.

This year the only the 4 highest scores of the 5 rounds will count for the final league score. 

Armies will be split into three classes:-

Class 1 - 17 BG's or over
Class 2 - 13-16 BG's
Class 3 - 12 BG's or less

Winning players of all three rules systems who have broken there enemies army and are of a lower class army than the enemy will receive bonus victory points as follows

A Class 3 beats a class 1 army it will gets 5 bonus victory points (BVP),

A Class 2 beats a class 1 army it gets only 2 bonus victory point (BVP).

A Class 3 beats a class 2 it gets only 2 bonus victory point (BVP).

Only by breaking an opponent’s army does a player gain Bonus Points, games ended by time being called do not.

The 5 rounds will each have a theme which restricts the armies eligible for that round.  The rounds and armies are:

 Round 1 – Sunday February 15th at MAWS club Manchester
Classical – 825 points
Immortal Fire any army

Round 2 – Medieval – 850 points
Any European army – after 1049
Including Ottoman Turks

Round 3 – Rise and Glory of Rome – 825 points
Rise of Rome
Legions Triumphant

Round 4 – Dark Ages – 825 points
Wolves from the Sea
Oath of Fealty

Round 5 – The East – 775 points
Any army from Asia including Turks but excluding Ottomans.
